2014-2015 Group Service Projects

Thanksgiving Basket Distribution
Our first group project was the annual distribution day at Backstreet Mission on November 22, 2014. 37 students and 2 adults donated 117 hours.
We enjoyed our time of service!

Food Drive
Our second group project was the annual Operation Outreach Food Drive that occurred from November 10th through 24th, 2014. All donations stayed here in eastern Greene County.  Each NHS member adopted a WIN classroom and set goals for their collections. Then, the WIN period classrooms competed against each other for a Magic Morning prize. Mr. Valentine's class was adopted by Lilli Southern and Clair Byers; his class won for most points.  Furthermore, Mrs. Butler's class, adopted by Brandon Hartman and Courtney Cullison, won for most total cans.  Excellent work, everyone! Overall, we donated 1,300 items to the pantry.  Way to go, Thunderbirds!

Random Acts of Kindness
Our third group project led us to try a new kind of service.  We spent the spring semester of school looking inside our EGHS campus and finding various jobs that needed to be done.  If you found a storage area organized and cleaned, lab tables sparkling, locker signs of encouragement, weeds pulled, or other jobs checked off of the to-do list, you could have been one of our targets.  We donated over 45 hours of work and enjoyed surprising people here at EGHS with
unexpected acts of kindness.

Popcorn Sales
Our last group project was the annual popcorn fundraiser to benefit the Student Activities Fund. Once again, we sold the delicious Inga's Popcorn, which also supports a local company. We sold over 235 tubs of popcorn, which allowed us to donate over $1,500 to the Student Fund!
