I am from Rising Sun, Indiana and graduated from Ball State University.   I have been teaching at Eastern Greene High School since 1995.  I currently teach French I, II, III, IV as well as 8th grade French/Spanish Culture.

French 1:

8/7   Introduction, welcome back.  Why study French? Distribute textbooks, workbooks,    Go over classroom rules and grading scale.  Practice dialogue:  “Bonjour, je m’appelle  __________ et j’ai ____ ans.    Assignment:  Research French first names and choose a your “French” first name.  Be prepared to introduce yourself tomorrow. 

              Example:  “Bonjour classe, je m’appelle Jean-Luc.”

8/8     Introduce ourselves with new French name.  Getting to know France page 4-8.             Hand out days of the week and months of the year. Practice.   French trivia in teams.

8/9     Practice name and age and a brief description:  tall/short, hair color.   French numbers.   Video:  Travel guide Paris    7 min

French III

8/8 Write down and translate adjectives on page 5.  Exercise 3 page 5. 

What you are going to do:  Near future/Futur proche  Aller + infinitive, create 10 using near future and include an adjective from page 5 in each sentence.

8/9  Review Near future, introduce, What you are doing right now:  Etre en train de + infinitive, and What you have just done:  Venir de + infinitive, Create 5 sentences each using adjectives from page 5.  Read French letter on page 6 together in class.

Review the past tense.  Speak in the French past tense describing what you did over the summer.  Write a page in French, first half describing your summer and what you did, second half describe your classes this year, including names of your classes, teacher’s names and what you think of the class, hard/easy, interesting/boring, etc…

8/9 Read and translate the Africain poem, and information about the author, and read together in class the article about Africain art and how it affected European art.  Online French trivia game in teams of three.
