Welcome to Eastern Greene Middle School, home of the Thunderbirds. My name is Patrick Ault and I am starting my 6th year as principal at EGMS. I started my career teaching physical education, health and coaching for thirteen years before I made the move to an administrative role. I’m so blessed to be starting my 23rd year in education in such a wonderful community and school corporation
EGMS is a middle school that houses 5th , 6th , 7th and 8th grades, with four teachers for each grade level. There are also three special education teachers; two inclusion teachers and one self-contained teacher. We offer several elective/mod classes for our upper grades and these are taught by shared teachers from the high school. There are six teaching assistants, a physical education/health teacher and a full- time media specialist in the library. We have an athletic director who facilitates many sport opportunities for our students. Several teachers sponsor a variety of after-school clubs. Last, but not least, we have a full-time counselor that provides class and group lessons along with seeing individual students with specific needs.
My vision is very simple. I believe that kids should feel loved and we should provide a safe environment for them to work in on a daily basis while keeping kindness at the center of all we do. By doing this, the learning piece will come much easier for our students. Our teachers are here not only to teach curriculum and state standards, but to be nurturing individuals that provide soft skills and life skills to our students.
If you are reading this and would like to learn more about our school, please just email us, call the front office at 812 825 5010 or drop in. I will stop what I’m doing to speak with you about all of the wonderful opportunities we provide. I’d love nothing more than to give you a tour of the school and our facilities. This is truly a great place!
